The Epic Method · patent-pending

Same sealant. Two installs. Only one is a system.

The industry shortcut runs a bead of sealant over the factory gasket — one bond surface, the weakest one. Epic removes the gasket, seats the glass on cork wedges, applies the film, and tools structural silicone sealant into the open channel so film, glass and frame become one load-bearing unit. Three surfaces. A mechanical interlock. That is why a district that tested everyone chose Epic.

Answer three questions. Get the film.

Most people don’t need a catalog — they need someone to say “this one, and here’s why.” That is what the finder does. Then download the spec card and, if you want, we’ll confirm it on your glass.

They tested everyone. Then they chose Epic.

A district serving 53,000+ students across 89 campuses ran a rigorous field evaluation of competing security films and installation methods. Epic’s 3M S2400 attached with the Epic Method outperformed the alternatives — and the district awarded Epic every campus.

“When lives are at stake, there is no room for compromise.”

Why Epic

Founded by two parents who saw a bad install at their kids’ school.

In 2018 Kelly and Chris Eder walked into their children’s Texas elementary school and noticed the security film in the vestibule was installed wrong — film that was supposed to protect students and would have failed under impact. They couldn’t let it go. They met with 3M, re-entered the industry, and built Epic around one commitment: do it right, every time.

It wasn’t a cold start. Chris invented the first security film attachment system for bomb-blast mitigation in the mid-1990s, at a prior company — the approach that became the federal standard after 9/11. Kelly — Dr. Kelly Eder, DNAP, CRNA, holder of a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice with more than two decades in the operating room and the company’s 100% owner — brought a profession’s definition of “done right” to a trade that didn’t have one. That is why Epic has earned an award from 3M every year since its first year in business, has been 3M Dealer of the Year multiple years, and is the largest 3M window film dealer in the nation.

FAQ

Window film questions people ask us

Is window film worth it for a commercial building?
For most buildings with sun-exposed glass, yes. 3M sun-control films reject up to 97% of infrared heat and 99% of UV, which lowers cooling load and tenant complaints without replacing windows. Payback on energy films is typically 2–6 years depending on exposure, glass and utility rates — shorter on west-facing single-pane glass; Epic provides a free assessment with a written estimate so you can run the numbers before you decide.
What is the difference between security film and bulletproof glass?
Security window film is a thick, tear-resistant film bonded to existing glass that holds broken glass together so an opening isn’t created on the first strike. It is not bulletproof and is not designed to stop projectiles. Bullet-resistant glazing is a full glass replacement at many times the cost. For forced-entry delay on existing buildings, film attached to the frame with a structural sealant is the practical, code-recognized retrofit.
Why does the attachment method matter so much?
Film alone holds glass together; it does not hold the glass in the frame. A structural-silicone attachment bonds film, glass and frame into one load-bearing unit. Many installers run a bead over the existing gasket — one surface, and the weakest one. The Epic Method removes the gasket, seats the glass, and tools the sealant into the open channel so it bonds to three surfaces. That is what the Epic Method page shows in 3D.
Does Epic work outside Texas and Colorado?
Yes. Epic is a national 3M Platinum Elite National Dealer with offices in McKinney, Texas and Aurora, Colorado and certified in-house installation teams that travel nationwide for schools, government and commercial projects.
How do I buy without a lengthy RFP?
Epic is an approved vendor on cooperative purchasing contracts (TIPS, BuyBoard, Choice Partners, PCA, Equalis, TexBuy and seven Texas ESC regional co-ops — 13 cooperatives, 21 current contracts). Public entities purchase through the contract at pre-negotiated pricing, which removes the bid process for most school safety and facility projects.
