3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes · certified installer
Refinish the building. Keep the building open.
DI-NOC turns dated walls, elevator cabs, doors, columns and casework into wood, stone, metal or color — applied over what’s already there, in days, with no demolition and no downtime. Epic is a 3M DI-NOC Certified Installer, which is the only way the 3M warranty applies.

A patient room and an elevator, refreshed on camera.
3M and FDC Graphic Films documented a working hospital refinishing a patient room and an elevator cab with DI-NOC, with the facilities director explaining why. Shared with Epic by 3M for exactly this purpose: showing healthcare buyers what the product does in a building that cannot close.

The entire 3M DI-NOC catalog, on your lobby.
Three real elevator lobbies, every surface its own decision. Pick a surface — elevator doors, the elevator wall, the back wall — then choose from all 916 DI-NOC patterns in 34 series: wood, metal, stone, solid color, textile, specialty. The actual 3M swatch is rendered in perspective and lit by the room’s own light. Search by pattern number; Quick Ship patterns are flagged.

Patterns are the actual 3M DI-NOC swatches, rendered in perspective on the real surfaces in each photo and lit by the room’s own light. Screen color varies; Quick Ship marks patterns stocked for fast delivery, every other pattern ships from 3M. Epic brings the sample books and makes mockup panels on your actual wall before anything is ordered.
Six families. More than nine hundred patterns.
We bring the books to the site; the right finish is chosen on your wall, under your light.
Wood grains
Oak, walnut, teak, ash and dozens more — rift, quarter and crown cuts, matte to gloss. The most-specified DI-NOC family for lobbies, elevator cabs and casework.
Stone & concrete
Marble, travertine, slate and raw concrete looks on walls and columns without the weight, the cost or the structural review.
Metals
Brushed, hairline and polished stainless, bronze, brass and anodized aluminum for elevator doors, columns, reveals and feature walls.
Leather, fabric & textile
Warm, tactile finishes for hospitality and corporate interiors that read as upholstery, not film.
Solid colors & abstracts
Clean solids, soft gradients and designer patterns for healthcare, education and branded environments.
Exterior-rated
Select DI-NOC series rated for exterior use: entrance canopies, column covers, storefront panels and signage fascias.
Any surface the building is tired of.
Healthcare
Patient rooms, corridors, nurse stations, elevator cabs and headwalls refreshed overnight — cleanable, Class A fire-rated, and done without taking beds out of service.
Hospitality
Guest rooms, corridors, ballroom doors and elevator interiors renewed between stays instead of between renovations.
Corporate & multi-tenant
Lobbies, elevator cabs, reception desks, columns and corridors brought up to the building’s next tenant, not its last one.
Education
Entries, libraries, admin offices and millwork refreshed over breaks, paired with Epic’s security film on the same visit.
Elevator cabs
The single most common DI-NOC application. Walls, doors, ceilings and reveals refinished in a day per cab with no cab out of service for weeks.
Retail & restaurants
Fixtures, counters, feature walls and storefront panels rebranded with no demolition and no closure.
DI-NOC rewards the installer who prepped the surface.
Architectural finish film is only as good as the substrate prep, primer and heat-forming behind it — on a radius corner, an elevator door or a column, a shortcut shows in a month. 3M certifies DI-NOC installers through hands-on training and testing, and only certified installations carry the full 3M warranty.

Refinish in a day,
or replace in two months.
A tired cab is the first thing a guest, tenant or patient judges a building by. There are two ways to fix it. These are the published elevator-industry numbers for replacing the interior, next to a 3M DI-NOC refinish by Epic’s certified crews.
3M DI-NOC refinish by Epic
Traditional cab interior replacement
The full comparison — fire rating, service life, design range, exclusions
| 3M DI-NOC refinish by Epic | Traditional cab interior replacement | |
|---|---|---|
| Investment | From $5,000 per cab for a straightforward refinish — a firm number after a free survey | $15,000 – $75,000 per cab in published cost guides; most common allowance $45,000 – $55,000, plus $2,000 – $5,000 per elevator for load testing where required |
| Time out of service | Hours — each cab is usually back in service the same day; the other cabs keep running | 1 – 2 days per cab for panel systems, 3 – 4 for traditional clip systems; single-car buildings pushed into weekend premiums |
| Lead time | Film ships from 3M distribution; installed on your schedule, no shop drawings | 6 – 8 weeks: survey, design, 3 – 6 weeks of manufacturing, delivery, install |
| Weight added to the car | Negligible — an 8-mil film over the existing panels; nothing removed | Hundreds of pounds possible; ASME A17.1 caps changes at 5% of car weight before engineering review and rebalancing |
| Permits and inspection | Cosmetic resurfacing; no structural, electrical or floor changes — a courtesy notice to your elevator contractor | Usually an alteration: licensed elevator contractor, permit, inspection, standby labor billed hourly |
| Fire performance | Class A (ASTM E84) on most DI-NOC patterns; pattern report in the submittal | Depends on the materials chosen; each needs its own flame-spread documentation |
| Service life | 12-year expected performance life (3M); a damaged section re-wraps on its own | 10 – 20 years; a damaged panel usually means a whole new panel |
Replacement costs, timelines and testing figures are national ranges from published elevator-industry cost guides (2025–2026), not a quote for any property. Elevator cab refinishing: refinish vs. replace, side by side
Cost, downtime, lead time, added weight, permits, fire rating and service life — 3M DI-NOC refinishing by Epic against a traditional cab interior replacement, with published industry figures and sources.
Guests inspect a cab from eighteen inches away, every day, for a decade.
Tight inside corners, compound wraps around every return, ceiling work overhead. Every Epic cab is done by Certified Installation Specialists with the surface prep, seam layout and edge sealing 3M specifies — and only certified installations carry the full 3M warranty. A quote that is a fraction of ours is usually the film alone, or an applicator working without 3M behind them; on a cab that shows up fast as lifting edges and visible seams.

Survey & sample
We walk the space, photograph every surface and bring the DI-NOC books. Mockup panels on request so the committee approves the finish on the real wall under the real light.
Substrate preparation
The step that separates a ten-year install from a one-year one: cleaning, filling, sanding and priming to 3M’s specification for each substrate — drywall, laminate, metal, painted MDF.
Application & heat-forming
Certified Installation Specialists apply, heat-form and post-heat the film around radii, reveals and returns so edges stay down and seams disappear.
Inspection & warranty
Opening-by-opening walkthrough, touch-up, and registration of the 3M warranty — which is only valid when a certified installer did the work.
